Join us for a special Open House as we celebrate our new exhibition and the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Mount Vernon Hotel! As we celebrate our new exhibition, The Empire City Begins: New York in the 1820s and 1830s, and the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Mount Vernon Hotel on this site, we are opening our doors all day long for a free open house event. Members of the public are welcome to drop in anytime between 11am-4:30pm. Docents will be on hand to answer questions; complimentary tours and Insider Talks will be offered throughout the day along with refreshments in our historic Tavern, including lemonade and cookies until 3pm, followed by a selection of teas, wines, and snacks served at our historically-inspired tasting events. View the new exhibition, try your hand at a traditional 19th century game, stroll around our historic garden, check out the unique handmade items in our gift shop, and discover more about the hidden history of day hotels in 1820s New York! 11am: Doors Open 11:30am: Museum Director Insider Talk/”The Empire City Begins” exhibition (15 minutes) 12pm: Complimentary Museum Tour (30 minutes) 1pm: Complimentary Garden Tour (30 minutes) 2pm: Complimentary Museum Tour (30 minutes) 3pm: Museum Director Insider Talk/”The Empire City Begins” exhibition (15 minutes) 4pm: Toast our 200th anniversary in the Tavern Families welcome (not recommended for children under age 5).
