About this event

Join us for an exploration of culinary history in 1820s New York City and then experience a historically-inspired tea tasting! Whet your appetite for a taste of history, and step back in time and learn about the foods and culinary trends of the 1820s and 1830s. Then enjoy a tea tasting inspired by what might have been served at the Mount Vernon Hotel. “Wining and Dining in 1820s and 1830s New York City” will give visitors an understanding of how guests experienced food and drink at a day hotel like the Mount Vernon Hotel, nestled in the “countryside” of New York City. Then, as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Mount Vernon Hotel, enjoy the latest in our series of historically-inspired tea tastings to help visitors step back in time and immerse themselves in the Mount Vernon Hotel’s period. This event will feature a selection of contemporary teas that are inspired by what would have been served during the autumn harvest season at the Mount Vernon Hotel; light refreshments will also be served (ages 10-up welcome).
