@ Plen Air Watercolor in the Garden with Carl Stoveland One-Day Workship Sat., Jan. 31, 2026 | 10:00 am – 3:45 pm Tickets: $135 for members | $145 for nonmembers (includes full Garden admission + boxed lunch) Capacity: Limited to 15 adults; nonrefundable This hands-on plein air watercolor workshop welcomes all experience levels and is ideal for artists ready to step out of the studio and paint directly from nature. Participants will explore common challenges of outdoor painting and learn practical solutions – along with insight into why every artist can benefit from painting on location. Carl will provide a live demonstration painting a floral scene in the Garden, followed by individual guidance as participants create their own paintings, helping them strengthen technique and confidence. After a break for lunch, the group will reconvene for a second demonstration featuring a scene that blends natural elements with manmade structures. Students may begin a new painting or continue refining their morning piece with Carl’s support. Emphasis will be placed on design, value, and composition to help artists produce dynamic, expressive work. A supply list will be provided upon registration. About Carl Stoveland Carl Stoveland is an artist and photographer living and working in Lake Worth Beach. Carl is a founding Member of the Lake Worth Beach Urban Sketchers group and was 2020 Artist in residence at Dry Tortugas National Park where he and another artist lived off the grid entirely creating art and photography for the entire month of September. One of Carl’s previous projects was the photo documentary exhibits IAMLAKEWORTH and IAMLAKEWORTHTOO that were displayed at the Hatch in 2018 and 2019. Carl was managing partner at Gallery Meraki in Garnerville, NY from 2014 to 2016 where he exhibited his own work as well as taught workshops in Photography and Photoshop. His current passions are watercolor and acrylic painting and Urban Sketching. Carl grew up in New York near the Catskill Mountains and found his passion for photography and painting hiking along the many trails and streams near his home. His dad spent his entire career working in photo labs and his mom is an oil painter and watercolorist. So the apple didn’t fall far from the tree!
