Dandha Da Hora Quintet

Born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil to a family of musicians, Dandha Da Hora grew up steeped in the vibrant music and dance of this center of Afro Brazilian culture. Dandha began her artistic journey at six years old with Ilê Aiyê, the first Bloco Afro and one of Brazil’s most important cultural organizations. Dandha toured nationally and internationally with Ilê Aiyê, as well as performing with other ensembles in Salvador. After moving to Santa Cruz, CA in 2003, Dandha became the lead vocalist of the Brazilian band SambaDá, and serves as Artistic Director and Principal Artist for the Cheza Nami Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to cultural diversity and arts programming. She is also a board member and affiliate artist with BrasArte, a Bay Area non-profit with the mission of preserving Brazilian art forms. Dandha Da Hora is a beloved performer, teacher and culture bearer dedicated to uplifting and sharing the gifts of her Afro Brazilian inheritance.
