Join us on an adventure into Chinese characters and calligraphy with Teaching Artist Yu Rong! With over 4,000 years of history, Chinese characters have a lot to share with us. Ed Young explored just a few in his book Voices of the Heart on display in the special exhibit. Practice your own heart-writing, and maybe learn a new favorite word! Please note, this workshop is designed as a casual, drop-in event accessible to families with children ages 6-14. The teaching artist will provide guidance, but no formal calligraphy instruction will be given. Adults interested in calligraphy should consider our upcoming Chinese Arts workshop events, led by the same teaching artist! Free with admission! RSVP appreciated. MOCA Members should enter their promo code to access complimentary tickets. NYC residents can purchase pay-what-you wish tickets online or with our Visitor Services team. Yu serves as a teaching artist at the Museum of Chinese in America and leads creative workshops for organizations such as Microsoft, Google, and Columbia University. MOCACREATE is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council and the New York State Council on the Arts under Governor Kathy Hochul’s Regional Economic Development Council Initiative.
