In dialogue with Mary-Ann Monforton’s Heart Land, poets Zan de Parry and M. Hodges of Keith LLC, alongside LA-based writer Mason McClay, present a mixed-media performance featuring poetry, analog and digital sound, field recording, and projection, inspired by the worlds and outer-worlds the artist’s works celebrate. The program highlights art’s use of humor and irreverence as a critical strategy for revealing and reflecting on the absurdities of contemporary life. About the Presenters MATTHEW HODGES is a Greek-American artist who is based in Texas at this time. He is the co-author of the collection Austerity Brunch & has published in various media, both online and print. He releases audio work under the name Oil Company. He runs Keith LLC with his brother Zan de Parry. ZAN DE PARRY wrote Cold Dogs (The Song Cave) and other, smaller books with Spiral Editions, Tabloid Publications, The Creative Writing Department, Topos Press, blush, etc. He is the co-author of the collection Austerity Brunch and runs Keith LLC with his brother Matthew Hodges. MASON MCCLAY is a writer and researcher based in Los Angeles. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA’s Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center, where he studies the cognitive and affective structures of memories and communication in altered states, trauma, and psychosis. His work has recently appeared in Ghost Proposal, Boxx Press, NPR, and Nature Communications, with forthcoming poetry collections in Keith, LLC, and Waste Management Press.
