An Exclusive Curator-Led Black Light Tour of the Baroque Every painting tells two stories: the one the artist intended, and the one the centuries have left behind… As the acclaimed exhibition In Caravaggio’s Light enters its final days before closing on March 22, we invite you to a rare, before-hours investigation of the Baroque. Join Dr. Stanton Thomas, Hazel and William Hough Chief Curator, on the morning of March 14 for an exclusive forensic encounter with the collection, using specialized ultraviolet light (black light) to reveal the hidden history of these 400-year-old masterpieces. While the naked eye sees only the finished brilliance of the era, this technical tour allows you to “read” the canvases like a conservator. By comparing works that bear the inevitable scars and repairs of the centuries against the miraculous, untouched purity of our central Caravaggio, you will discover the secrets that modern conservation usually keeps hidden. To maintain an intimate atmosphere and ensure clear sightlines for the UV demonstrations, this special engagement is strictly limited to only 15 participants. Your ticket provides private access to the galleries before they open to the public, offering a quiet, scholarly environment to engage directly with the Curator. Following the tour, guests are invited to remain in the museum for the day to enjoy the full exhibition one last time. Registration is $65 for not-yet-members and $55 for members, inclusive of full museum admission.
