Dr. Kelley Hays-Gilpin will explore the deep history of pigments and color in Hopi art, from archaeological examples to the work of the five painters of the Artist Hopid collective. Artist Hopid was groundbreaking collective founded in 1973 by five visionary Hopi artists: Michael Kabotie, Delbridge Honanie, Terrance Talaswaima, Neil David Sr., and Milland Lomakema. Works from Artist Hopid are current on display at MNA. Visit the exhibit before or after the talk. Free for MNA members. Free with regular museum admission.
