From Music Theater Heritage
A sweeping Caribbean-infused fable of love, class, destiny, and sacrifice, Once on This Island helped expand the musical theater canon through its fusion of folklore, rhythm, and ensemble storytelling. Featuring a vibrant score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, this Tony Award-winning musical blends calypso, reggae, and gospel influences into a breathtaking theatrical experience. Filled with heart, beauty, and unforgettable music, Once on This Island remains one of the most inspiring and visually captivating musicals of the modern era.
