Note: This Valentine’s Day concert is scheduled for 2 PM so as not to conflict with Super Bowl Sunday American jazz pianist and performance artist Jason Moran is renowned for his dynamic, boundary-pushing live shows. On stage, he seamlessly blends avant-garde, stride piano, blues, and hip-hop into a powerful, genre-defying experience. The former Kennedy Center Artistic Director and current New England Conservatory faculty member brings an unmatched innovative energy to the concert hall, showcasing brilliant technique and captivating storytelling in every performance. Venue Schedule 1 PM Doors 2 PM Concert ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Born in Houston, Texas in 1975, Jason Moran began his musical journey discovering Thelonious Monk, an experience that set the course for his career. He went on to study at the Manhattan School of Music and made his recording debut on Blue Note Records in 1999, earning widespread critical acclaim and being named “the most provocative thinker in current jazz” by Rolling Stone. A MacArthur Fellowship recipient, Moran has performed and recorded with artists including Cassandra Wilson, Joe Lovano, and Ravi Coltrane, and has topped the Down Beat Critics Poll multiple times. He is currently the Artistic Director for Jazz at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where he develops programming for one of the largest jazz programs in the United States. Tickets are available through each event on our event calendar or on Eventbrite. Check-in To help our staff and volunteers, please have your ticket ready when you get there. Staff and volunteers will be ready to scan the QR code located on your ticket (print, email, or app). Door Opening Door opening times for Musical Evenings events will occur at 6:15 PM, unless otherwise stated per event. It is within MBAW and the venue’s right and discretion as private entities to enact these safety protocols for its attendees. Lost Ticket/Refund Policy An attendant at the door can help you register and get in quickly and easily. If you have registered but have forgotten the ticket, an attendant can pull up your name and check you in manually. If you cannot attend, we ask that you cancel your free ticket order. This helps our ticket management process and eases the check-in process for staff/volunteers and guests on the day of. We love for you to capture and share your experience, but we do ask that you be conscientious of others and the artists during the performance so as not to disrupt the event. Seating Seating is first-come-first-served, apart from any clearly marked reserved or VIP seating. Silence Your Phone Please silence phones/devices during the performance.
