Device cleaning: 3-6PM Dance party: 6-9PM The Mobility Device Cleaning & Disabled Dance Party takes place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Drifter’s BBQ in East Nashville. This unique, two-part gathering aims to celebrate and maintain local disabled people’s mobility devices while building solidarity between wheelchair users, cyclists, and the broader Nashville community. The event kicks off at 3:00 PM with the Mobility Device Cleaning clinic, running until 6:00 PM. Local bike technicians from Nashville Bike Taxi and Bike Fun will be on hand to clean, lubricate, and provide simple repairs for wheelchairs, scooters, rollators, and canes. To increase nighttime safety, volunteers will also add reflective tape to both mobility aids and bicycles. Participants can even style their rides with complimentary handlebar streamers and festive decorations. Transitioning from maintenance to celebration, the Disabled Dance Party will take over the patio from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The inclusive party features a dynamic lineup of local talent, including a DJ set by Foundation Mecca alongside live performances from artists with disabilities including Dr. Cyn, Garrett DeVaughn (The Mad Uke Bard), Nicólas Soul, Kolrick, and Cha Cha Heels. “People who ride bikes and boards and people who use wheelchairs need to stick together,” said event creator Dr. Cynthia George. “This event is about celebrating our mobility devices, keeping everyone safe on the streets, and showing that adaptive, accessible community spaces can throw an incredible party.” Event Highlights Include: Free Device Tuning & Upgrades: Professional care for adaptive equipment, complimentary bling for devices and bikes, plus custom photo opportunities featuring a pedal taxi. Civic Engagement: On-site voter education and registration support will be provided by the REV UP Disability Voting Coalition. Accessible Patio Environment: Specifically arranged low tables, supportive backing chairs, and designated wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. Food & Drink Specials: Drifter’s BBQ is hosting happy hour pricing and offering exclusive food discounts, including $8 Queso with Pretzel Bites and specialty Crown Royal cocktails. Both disabled and non-disabled neighbors are openly invited to attend, volunteer, or cycle out to support the cause. While the event is free to attend, organizers strongly urge attendees to RSVP in advance—especially those requesting specific device maintenance or repair assistance. To RSVP or sign up as a volunteer, visit the official Disabled to the Front Event Registration Page.
