This dialogue with artist claudia hermano focuses on mapping seasonal life cycles alongside reflections of self across time and place. i thought i saw you yesterday is a group exhibition that explores memory and ancestral knowledge to create a dialogue between life cycles, food, land, place, and the body. About the artist: claudia hermano (they/them) is a trans non-binary Filipino American artist and educator working primarily in photography, with a practice that extends into book arts, sculpture, and performance. Their work explores the intersections of embodiment, belonging, and representation, with a focus on queer, fat, and mixed-race identities. hermano was born in New York and spent their childhood moving between New York, California, Texas, and Massachusetts. They hold a BA in Photography from Hampshire College and an MFA in Studio Art from the University of New Mexico. They currently reside in Albuquerque, NM on unceded Tewa land.
