Schulz’s legacy is one of cultural influence through his beloved Peanuts comic strip and of humble service in World War II. His wartime experience left a lasting impression on him, so much so that he became the Capital Campaign Chair of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation from 1998 until his passing in 2000. Lucille Hoback Boggess, early Memorial board member, with Charles M. Schulz, first National D-Day Memorial campaign chairman. The National D-Day Memorial, in partnership with Bower Center for the Arts, hosts this tribute to Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz and his role in establishing the Nation’s monument to D-Day. Curated by the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, California, The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz, opens May 7 with a replica display of Schulz’s studio. Full exhibition opens June 17.
