The Curious Life of Edgar Allan Poe – Lecture with Julianna Rubio Slager and Harry Lee Poe Thursday, October 15, 2026 6:30 – 8:30 pm NHCC | Salón Ortega Julianna Rubio Slager invites audiences beyond the familiar myths surrounding Edgar Allan Poe to discover who he truly was. Drawing from resources provided by the Poe Museum and Harry Lee Poe’s family history of Poe’s journey, Julianna will explore the man behind the myth through his life, writing, relationships, faith, and the experiences that shaped his work. The conversation will also examine Poe’s complicated relationships with women and slavery, offering a richer and more human understanding of the writer and his legacy.
