Three Fully Restored Flying Helldivers on Display Three-Ship Helldiver Flights on August 20th B-25 Camera Ship Three fully restored, flying SB2C Helldivers will be in the skies over Colorado Springs in August. Helldivers from Fagen Fighters WWII Museum and the Commemorative Air Force Houston Wing will join Jim Slattery’s Helldiver at the National Museum of World War II Aviation August 19th through the 21st. You don’t want to miss this historic event! All three aircraft will be on display at the National Museum of World War II Aviation throughout the event and will fly together in the early morning and late afternoon of August 20th for aerial photo sessions. The museum-based B-25 “In The Mood”, flown by Bill and Scott Klaers, will serve as camera ship for each session. The National Museum of World War II Aviation will be open from 5:30am to 8:00pm on August 20th to allow individual photographers and videographers to get sunrise and sunset shots of the aircraft and to give the public a chance to watch these historic aircraft depart and return from the photo sessions. Standard admission rates will apply throughout the day, and all guests will be allowed to come and go on the basis of a single paid admission or membership pass. The Fagen Fighters Helldiver is scheduled to depart the museum on August 21, though the Commemorative Air Force Helldiver will remain in Colorado Springs longer and possibly offer public flights the following weekend. For more information, please go to https://cafhelldiversquadron.com/ The Helldiver at the National Museum of WWII Aviation in Colorado Springs is celebrated for its unique story. Abandoned by the US Navy and dumped in Lake Washington in Seattle, it was later found and claimed by two teenaged divers. This led to a dispute over rights to the aircraft and a court battle that eventually gave ownership to the teens. More information about the museum’s Helldiver is available in this newsletter article: https://myemail.constantcontact.com/December-2023-Museum-Newsletter.html?soid=1102286017538&aid=eIeNX4OQJb4 Information about the Fagen Fighters and Commemorative Air Force Helldivers can be found at the following links: https://www.fagenfighterswwiimuseum.org/wwii-aircraft/sb2c5-helldiver https://cafhelldiversquadron.com/history/history/
