Raise your photography to a higher level, learn to how take the pictures you would like to see with photographer Will van Overbeek. Surrounded by his exhibition, 30 Wet Dogs, Van Overbeek will help you develop the skills to make your photography more intentional. Develop your visual tool kit with the essential elements of photography: Studying the light Framing and composition Action and movement Telling a story Working with people – Don’t say “cheese” Using the right equipment – Don’t let gear get in the way of good pictures Participants are welcome to bring a difficult RAW file or technical questions to discuss with Van Overbeek at the end of the session. See the Light will be held in the NCHM Exhibit Room. Free parking is available behind the Museum, accessible from 23rd Street. Photo by Kirk Tuck ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Will van Overbeek has studied with photographers Garry Winogrand and Russell Lee at the University of Texas at Austin.  His work is in the collections of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Wittliff Collections at Texas State University, and The Harry Ransom Center at UT-Austin. He is the author of Aggies: Life in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M, a documentary photo book. His 24 Summers at Barton Springs was exhibited at the Austin Museum of Art in 2007.
