Writers’ Wednesday – On The GO! Summary of Talk: Nevada Courthouse Controversies. The book features a large section on the controversial topic of moving the county seat and courthouse from Washoe City to Reno between 1868 and 1873. Stan Paher, historian Speaker Bio: Native Nevadan Stanley Paher is the author of 19 books on Nevada, Arizona, and Death Valley. As author-publisher, collector of rare books, maps, and photographs, Stanley Paher has kept alive the history, lore, and spirit of Nevada and the Southwest. Through carefully researched text and a few thousand rare photographs, he has documented many aspects of Nevada life. His purpose is to make history stay alive through text and illustration. Paher loves his work and is steadfastly dedicated. Through his own chosen self-sacrifices, he has enriched the lives of hundreds of thousands of Nevadans and others who have read and enjoyed his books. The Writers’ Wednesday Lecture Series, held on the second Wednesday of each month, features a different author who takes part in a book signing, a presentation, and a question-and-answer session with the audience. The program intends to highlight writers who focus on Nevada, the Great Basin, or the West in general. The authors discuss the content of their books but also share details about the creative process. We would like to thank our partner, the Knights of Pythias, for hosting our off-site lectures.
