About this event
One of 24 upcoming events at New Hampshire Audubon.
Join Joe Callanan, Wildlife Photographer, as he takes you to one of the most exceptional wildlife sanctuaries in the Eastern half of our country! Baxter State Park was the result of one man’s magnificent life long obsession. Percival Baxter was taken to climb Mt. Katahdin as an eleven year old boy. He was so taken with the grandeur of the mountain and its wildlife that he made it his personal mission to preserve this mountainous paradise in its original state for perpetuity. Incredibly, he single handedly purchased the land, designed the campground layouts and set up a trust to cover its costs, then he donated it to the State of Maine. This was the stomping ground that birthed Joe’s passion for wildlife and rugged adventures. Come and discover this place in all its primitive, wild and rugged glory! This place will leave its mark.
