“Playwright Dea Hurston’s musical is a sweet story about love and letting go.” –The San Diego Union-Tribune Written by Dea Hurston Original Music by Milena (Sellers) Phillips Created by Dea Hurston, Milena (Sellers) Phillips, Frankie Alicea, and Kevin "Blax" Burroughs Dorothy Black invites you to join her and her family for Christmas Eve at 1222 Oceanfront. The festive evening features all of the Black family’s traditions including an abundance of delicious food, dancing, skits, and the singing of new, original holiday songs mixed with re-imagined carols. And lots of love, because it’s family. The evening may also include a bit of drama because, well, it’s family. But seriously, how much drama can there be on Christmas Eve? Sunday, November 1, the Carlsbad Village Street Faire will bring thousands of visitors to the Village for one of the largest one-day street fairs in the country. The Faire runs from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM and will result in significant crowds, street closures, increased traffic, and limited parking throughout Carlsbad Village. If you plan to attend the Sunday matinee of AS YOU LIKE IT, please allow significant additional time for travel and parking. We strongly recommend arriving in the Village earlier than you normally would and considering alternate parking or transportation options.
