This North Texas Christmas Tradition features a fast-paced and fun full-length live musical production, Pre-show Christmas Carols, and MORE! North Texas Performing Arts Community Theatre proudly announces its Christmas Tradition “Scrooge, The Musical,” a show by award-winning songwriter, Leslie Bricusse, creator of the musical versions of “Jekyll & Hyde” and “Willy Wonka”. Receiving four Academy Award nominations and five Golden Globe nominations in its movie version, “Scrooge” closely follows the plot of Charles Dickens’ acclaimed book, A Christmas Carol. This wonderful Plano Christmas Tradition now in its 15th BIG YEAR and producing its 125th performance this year has been critically acclaimed and plays to sell-out crowds. The Dallas Morning News called the production “brilliant … robust and passionate” and it regularly tops “Must See” holiday event lists for the Christmas Season. In his 10th year of involvement in this production, Mike Mazur returns as Director guaranteeing a fun-filled, joyous and positive family, and high-quality entertainment experience with some exciting new twists and changes to keep this message and 15-year tradition fresh and alive! Synopsis In 1970, renowned Broadway writer/composer/lyricist Leslie Bricusse adapted the classic Charles Dickens tale A Christmas Carol into the hit Oscar-Nominated movie musical Scrooge! The film has been adapted into a stage musical that brings Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit and, of course, the old miser himself to life before your eyes! Join us as we present NTPA’s 15th Annual production of this fun and family friendly Holiday Classic! This show is sponsored by Winston Straw, Local Profile, and the City of Plano.
