The Travelin’ McCourys

The Travelin’ McCourys carry one of bluegrass music’s most important family names, but they are not here to simply guard the past. Led by brothers Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and Rob McCoury on banjo, sons of bluegrass legend Del McCoury, the band has spent years turning deep tradition into something bold, nimble, and alive in the moment. This is bluegrass with a long memory and a wide-open future. The Travelin’ McCourys have the kind of musicianship that can only come from a lifetime onstage: blistering solos, lockstep ensemble playing, high-lonesome harmonies, and an instinct for taking a song somewhere new without ever losing its soul. They can nod to Bill Monroe, stretch toward the Grateful Dead, and bring jam-band freedom into a string-band setting that still feels grounded, joyful, and unmistakably McCoury. Their self-titled album earned the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album, but the real argument for this band happens live, where tradition meets lift-off. On StageOne, up close and in full flight, The Travelin’ McCourys bring a night of world-class pickin’, harmony, and progressive bluegrass fire. Vibe: Front-porch soul with festival-stage horsepower Sounds like: Bill Monroe’s bluegrass DNA plugged into Grateful Dead curiosity, Del McCoury precision, and modern jamgrass momentum.
