Invented and built by David Bushnell, the “Turtle” was piloted by Sergeant Ezra Lee in an attack on the flagship of the British North American fleet, HMS Eagle, the first such attack against an enemy ship in history. Albertson is a historian and educator specializing in American military and constitutional development. His research draws from both academic and military sources, offering an accessible yet scholarly perspective on the roots of the U.S. defense system.
