@ Dr. Benjamin Remillard is a historian and visiting assistant professor at Providence College whose research centers on Black, Indigenous, and other Patriots of color in the American Revolution. His work uncovers the complex, often overlooked stories of these veterans and their activism. Dr. Remillard’s scholarship highlights that Patriots of color contributed throughout the entire conflict—from the Battle of Lexington and Concord to the post-war era—working as soldiers, sailors, and spies.
