Art Studi-O Dreams, Visions and Bricolage

Thursday, October 8, 15, 22 and 29 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Join Museum Educator Myron Solomon Jr., for a multi-week exploration of bricolage, the art of making something new from a diverse range of readily available materials, using whatever is at hand to construct, fix or decorate. Inspired by The Dream is the Truth, an exhibition highlighting artists such as Clementine Hunter, Sister Gertrude Morgan and more, participants will explore themes of dreams, memory, spirituality and personal vision and transform everyday materials into expressive works guided by intuition, memory and imagination through the techniques of painting and assemblage. A Dillard University BFA and School of Visual Arts MFA graduate, his work pushes beyond traditional New Orleans art while honoring its cultural roots. Exploring existential themes, Myron uses hyperbole to evoke introspection in his audience. His passion for the arts extends to education, where he shares his knowledge with youth, aiming to inspire the same transformative experiences that shaped his own journey.
