When: Saturday, June 27th, 2pm start Where: Citiot (404 Main Street, Catskill, NY) Come participate in an artist workshop lead by Kathleen McDermott at Citiot as part of Upstate Art Weekend! This workshop will focus on the artist’s exhibit which features appliances from the artist’s home that could no longer perform their original functions––a sewing machine that didn’t sew, a blender that leaked motor fluid––but that still had some working parts. Using techniques from puppetry and animatronics, she made strange, campy attachments for the “broken” machines, expanding on the parts that still functioned, and engaging them in a dialogue around questions of domestic work, motherhood’s impact on the body, and the labor of repair.
