3:00 PM – 5:30PM CDT on Wed. • This is a general watercolor class—as opposed to one specific genre of portrait, landscape, still life etc.—designed for both beginning watercolor painters and the experienced. • Students will learn fundamental skills and techniques of watercolor painting in order to create a convincing realism in their painting. • In addition to hands-on skills, students will learn how to · construct a dynamic value structure in painting. · create color harmony in painting. · create an impactful composition. • Individual student paints their choice of subject matter; landscape, urban-scape, people, animals, still life etc. • Class consists of lecture, demonstration, individual instruction, home assignment, and group critique. • Students paint from photo references of their choice (on print, tablet, or laptop) carefully selected from the discussion with the instructor.
