Time : 9:00AM – 12:00PM CDT on Sun — In this class, students can choose between drawing one cast the entire 6 weeks or painting 6 still lives (1 per week). Cast drawing instruction will focus on the principles of proportion and value as well as the mechanics of form, light, and shadow. Students will learn to combine 2D and 3D thinking in order to visually sculpt a two-dimensional drawing. Painting instruction will teach the basics of painting, focusing on accurate color mixing, accurate proportions, light effects, three-dimensionality, organization of values, and other topics. Each 3-hour painting will teach students the value of simplification. Students will paint one simple subject a week – for example, fruit. Bringing in items to paint is also encouraged.
