In this class you will learn how to take a Plein air sketch, along with photo references, and turn it into a larger work of art. Instructor: Jeanne Hougen Ages: Teens and Adults, age 15 and up Prerequisite: This class is designed for someone with some painting experience. If you are a beginner, please contact instructor. Class size: minimum of 3, maximum of 12 Description: This class is a perfect follow-up to Jeanne’s May class on Plein Air Painting, or for anyone who has done some painting outdoors. Plein air painting is fun, but what do artists do with all those Plein air sketches they create? In this class you will learn how to take a Plein air sketch, along with photo references, and turn it into a larger work of art. You will learn what information is best gathered from your sketch, and what is best taken from photo references. Demonstrations will be given each week so that you can follow each step of the decision making and painting process along with the instructor. Bring to class: Plein air sketches you are considering painting from, sketchbook and pencil, a painting panel or canvas in a size you would like to paint (anywhere from 16”x20” to 22”x28” would be appropriate, and will not be needed until week two), and painting supplies that you normally use.
