Whether you’re joining with family members, lifelong fishing buddies, business partners, or a group of friends, you’ll work side-by-side to transform premium Tonkin bamboo into custom fly rods built to fish for generations. Under the guidance of Master Rodsmith PJ Dufour and his team, participants are involved in every major step of the process, from splitting and heat-treating bamboo to shaping grips, selecting hardware, wrapping guides, and applying the final finish. No prior rod-building experience is required. Each participant will design and build a personalized bamboo fly rod reflecting their own fishing style and preferences. Small class size ensures extensive hands-on instruction and a relaxed atmosphere filled with storytelling, craftsmanship, and camaraderie. At the end of the week, you’ll leave with a handcrafted bamboo fly rod, custom rod sock, protective rod tube, and the satisfaction of creating something that can be passed down and treasured for years to come.
