Maiden Voyage

Each First Thursday, as Pioneer Square Art Walk transforms the neighborhood into a celebration of creativity, Maiden Voyage invites guests to experience art through the act of deep listening. The Nature Library at Populus Seattle becomes an intimate listening lounge, where Jason Justice and Justin Cayou draw inspiration from Japan’s legendary jazz kissa listening bars to curate an immersive journey through jazz, soul, and genre-spanning vinyl. This month we’re joined by Nathan Womack, DJ and owner of Wax Thématique. Established in Seattle, WA in 2014 Wax Thématique, digs deep for obscure artists making life-enhancing music. The label which has released records by Seattle luminaries such as Afrocop, Noel Brass Jr., Select Level, Funkways, Rezin Tooth, and Gel-Sol—has expanded its reach to Great Britain (Grandbaby), Germany (Feed LA), and the Paris-based VuVuVu). Womack’s ambition and impeccable aesthetics have made his label a trusted source of heady groove science. Complement the evening with handcrafted cocktails and seasonal small bites from Salt Harvest, then continue the creative journey upstairs at Firn, where skyline views of Pioneer Square provide the backdrop for Firn Frequency: Supreme La Rock
