In this mind expanding show of small drawings, works by both artists intermingle on the walls as our eyes drift across pages, bouncing between Kupferberg’s other worldly abstract pencil drawings and Jennings’ captivating exploratory text compositions. Over and over our eyes land on a word, a line, a shadow, or a moment in time that we connect with and in doing so are drawn both into the minds of the artists and simultaneously into our own subconscious, as sparks begin to ignite and ancient longings resurface. Like the wind that’s free, Corey and Samara share an ability to connect with the state of pure freedom that can be accessed when all other thoughts escape the mind and the calming breeze of creative flow clears the mist from the air. Drawing then becomes the means to lift us out of our routine familial and societal obligations in order to experience the free fall into wide open space where anything one might desire becomes possible. Local worry wart and involuntary clairvoyant, CJ is a Texas born – Portland based artist exploring themes of public embarrassment and grip loss through drawing, music & iron on appliqués. Samara Kupferberg is a Canadian born artist who grew up in the embrace of the countercultural movement in downtown New York City. She currently resides in Portland where she lives with her 14 year old son and a silly tuxedo cat named Rotini. She also owns Starry Eyes, a local earth friendly boutique for kids and is currently working on an off beat documentary about her father, writer and performer Tuli Kupferberg. Event runs from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Tickets are free or by donation with Pay-What-You-Can pricing starting at $0 per ticket. Per ticket service fee varies depending on ticket price. Friday, November 6, 2026 5PM - 8PM MSA is a welcoming community arts center in the heart of Portland’s Kennedy Park neighborhood: the most densely populated, ethnically and culturally diverse square mile in Maine. The building serves as a performance venue, gallery, and gathering space, with affordable studios and rehearsal space for artists. 10 Mayo St Portland ME, 04101
