About this event
One of 90 upcoming events at Poster House, and 6,603 across New York City.
Join Poster House for a hands-on poster making workshop in connection with the exhibition Cuteness, Conservatism, & Consumption: Lefor-Openo and Postwar France. Using kirigami paper-cutting techniques, participants will create bold, vibrant posters in the style of design duo Lefor-Openo that reflect on modern consumerism and today’s turbulent political landscape. Using flat characters, iconography, and landscapes, participants can build their own compositions that speak to the current moment. Recommended for ages 13 and up due to the use of cutting tools. Jo Norris-Gaither is a Black, queer artist predominantly working in ceramic and hand-processed print methods. They use motifs, montages and distortions in their work to challenge the fabrication of historical documentation and memory. Accessibility Note: Masks are available free of charge at the museum. Assistive listening devices and stools are available. ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation or a CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) is also available upon request. Please contact [email protected] or (914) 295-2387 to request interpretation services and to address any other accessibility needs. For other event-related questions, please contact [email protected].
