History Book Club

Our next History Book Club selection is 38 Nooses: Lincoln, Little Crow, and the Beginning of the Frontier’s End by Scott W. Berg. Through the story of the U.S.–Dakota War of 1862 and its aftermath, Berg explores the experiences of the Dakota people, westward expansion, broken treaties, and Abraham Lincoln’s role in the fate of hundreds of Dakota prisoners. Pick up a copy, read along with us, and then join the book club to discuss your thoughts, questions, and takeaways from the book. Together, we’ll dig deeper into the history and consider how Berg tells the story of this complex and often-overlooked moment in American history.
