This book chronicles Winston Churchill’s first year as Prime Minister during World War II, when Britain stood largely alone against Nazi Germany. Drawing from diaries, letters, and government records, Larson blends political history with the personal lives of Churchill, his family, and ordinary citizens to show how leadership, resilience, and courage sustained Britain through the Blitz and one of its darkest periods.
