About this event
One of 34 upcoming events at Public Works Art Center.
In this playful, exploratory class, young artists will make, view, and talk about art while discovering the tools and techniques that help artists bring their ideas to life. Through exciting, age-appropriate projects, students will experiment with a variety of materials and media—drawing, painting, sculpting, and more—while learning about the Elements and Principles of Art and Design, art history, and the South Carolina and National Visual Arts Standards. This class is all about curiosity, thoughtful practice, and creative problem-solving. Students will develop confidence, observation skills, and artistic thinking while having fun, expressing themselves, and exploring new ways to create. A perfect fit for homeschool families looking for a standards-informed art education that’s joyful, hands-on, and full of discovery! Meet the Teacher: Jessica McHale I am an art lover with a degree in Fine Arts Education from USC and over 18 years of experience teaching art in a variety of creative settings, including camps, workshops, and classrooms serving preschool through elementary students. I also run my own joyful little studio, JSM, where I teach, create, and share my passion for art. Art is a powerful way for students to develop essential skills, especially communication and self-expression. It truly lights my heart to see students grow and learn through meaningful art-making experiences. I am thrilled to teach at Public Works Art Center and can’t wait to create with students and the community.
