About this event

Family Friendly

In this fun and hands-on 2-hour class, kids will get an exciting introduction to the sewing machine! This class goes over the basics of machine operation, threading, straight stitching, and backstitching—all while building confidence and creativity. Then, students will put their new skills to work by creating their very own stuffy. All materials are included. No experience necessary! This course is specifically designed for beginner sewists with little to no prior experience. Bring your own sewing machine if you have one! Meet the Teacher: Ashley Huff Ashley is a fourth-generation seamstress who grew up with a needle and thread in hand. While she launched Slash Alterations in 2014 to offer professional sewing services, her true passion lies in passing on the timeless art of sewing to the next generation. Over the past five years, Ashley has hosted sewing classes at multiple schools, helping kids discover the joy of creating with their hands. She believes sewing builds more than just skills—it fosters confidence, patience, and creativity in every child. Through her classes, Ashley is committed to creating a welcoming, encouraging environment where young learners can develop practical skills and a lifelong love for craftsmanship.
