My name is Jessica Smith and I am an art teacher at Alston-Bailey Elementary. I teach art summer camps at Public Works as well! I am excited to begin teaching after school art at Public Works! One of my favorite things as an educator is watching children express themselves in a creative way. I believe art provides children with an outlet to learn, grow, and explore art mediums they may not use on a regular basis. I am looking forward to helping them make projects that allow them to express and show off their creative individuality! In my after school art class students will work with a variety of wet and dry mediums. For example, painting projects with watercolor and tempera paint. In addition, projects will be created with oil pastel and pencil as well. Some projects will be mixed media incorporating both wet & dry mediums. Students will use paint combined with materials such as markers, pencils, sharpies, etc. I look forward to creating meaningful and fun art with your children at Public Works!
