Upcoming Events share Join us at The Puffin Cultural Forum on Friday, November 20th at 7:00PM for an evening of creativity, conversation, and community as we explore the history of book banning in the United States and its continued impact today. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll work with librarian Alexandra Blau to create your own charm bracelet inspired by books that have been banned or challenged throughout history. As you design your bracelet, Alexandra will share the history of book censorship in the U.S., from some of the earliest documented challenges to the surge of book bans in communities across the country in 2026. The evening will be an opportunity to learn, create, and connect with others through open dialogue about who gets to decide what stories are available to us and why access to books and ideas matters. No previous jewelry-making experience is necessary! Open to all ages. All materials will be provided, and light refreshments will be available. — About the Instructor Alexandra Blau is a dedicated librarian with over twenty years of experience serving public libraries. She believes that free people read freely. When she isn’t shaking her sillies out during storytime, you’ll find her spinning records for Long Beach’s Vinyl Collectors Club. She received her MLS from Queens College. — $10 Suggested Donation SPACE IS LIMITED, reserve your spot below!
