Upcoming Events share Traveling from its debut at the Puffin Foundation Brooklyn, the Puffin Cultural Forum is excited to announce its newest photography exhibition, Gray Zones! Please join us for the exhibit opening on Saturday, October 3rd. Viewing starts at 1:00PM, and the panel begins at 2:00PM. The panel will be led by Curator, Danny Wilcox Frazier, and will include some of the featured photographers in the exhibit. Snacks and refreshments will be provided! — Gray Zones was inspired by the semiquincentennial of the United States, which feels less united with every passing day. Yet the reality is that all of us, whether we are urban or rural, queer or straight, born in the USA or elsewhere, share similar struggles, loves, hardships, and joys. The dominant narrative is invested in dividing us, in order to concentrate wealth and power in the hands of the few while keeping the rest of us on the margins. This exhibition – an extraordinary collection of work by highly accomplished photographers – challenges viewers to reconsider traditional lines of division. It is an invitation to see ourselves in each other, regardless of race class, or other differences. It is a reminder that solidarity is not only possible but necessary if we are to continue as a nation. Curated by Danny Wilcox Frazier and featuring work by Nina Berman, Sheila Pree Bright, Danny Wilcox Frazier, Jordan Gale, Ron Haviv, Tyrel Iron Eyes, Brooklynn Kascel, Erin Kirkland, Zun Lee, Jon Lowenstein, Carlos Javier Ortiz. This exhibition features the work of contributing VII Foundation photographers and community members. The VII Foundation is committed to in-depth journalism on the most urgent issues of our time by empowering new voices through education — by training practitioners to document their own communities and global challenges, producing long-term projects that advocate change and illuminate solutions.
