That’s where the similarities end. Mucca Pazza’s original genre-bending compositions are inspired by everything from surf rock to Stravinsky. Then there are the brightly colored, mismatched thrift-shop get-ups, a squad of absurdist cheerleaders, and implausible instrumentation that includes electric guitars, accordions, violins, and even a cello. A darling of Chicago’s underground music scene since 2004, Mucca Pazza has performed at Lollapalooza, Lincoln Center, the Montreal Jazz Fest, and NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series.
