Enjoy a little mountain music. Then settle in for the movie and a Q& A with various members of the band we miss so much. The Movie A documentary film directed by Rob Lichter (Bert Blotto) that chronicles the career of the Upstate NY-based 1980s new wave band, Blotto, a band that flew too close to the sun to make it really big.   Blotto rose from the ashes of the Star-Spangled Washboard Band and scored an unlikely hit with I Wanna Be A Lifeguard in the early 80’s — thanks in part to getting airplay on MTV when the network launched August 1, 1981.   The film follows their struggles to land a major label deal despite huge success with touring (ex: The Blot & Blue Tour with Blue Oyster Cult) and releasing their own EPs and Albums.   The movie features hits like: “I Wanna Be A Lifeguard” (Day One on MTV) Metalhead I Quit When the Second Feature Starts Goodbye, Mr Bond She’s Got a Big Boyfriend My Baby’s the Star of a Driver’s Ed Movie Bonus Features: archival footage, performances, and interviews documenting their comedic, genre-bending style.   Saratoga Connection This is where it all began! The formed, practiced and played their first shows at 17 MAPLE (later knows as the Metro and now the Night Owl). Some even lived upstairs and worked there!   Schedule 6:00pm: Mix, Mingle, Meet, Memories 6:30pm: Live Music by The Lost Radio Rounders, Tom Lindsay, Michael Eck, Paul “Bowtie Blotto” Jossman. 7:00pm: The Movie 8:15pm: Q&A CHANGE UP: An announcement from LOST RADIO ROUNDERS: “Unfortunately, due to an unexpected emergency, Bowtie Blotto will not be able to join the March 19 event at Putnam Place. The Lost Radio Rounders will therefore be unable to perform. We appreciate everyone’s understanding. The film screening will start at 7 as scheduled, followed by a Q&A with Broadway Blotto, Lee Harvey Blotto and the director, Rob Lichter AKA Bert Blotto.” Sub’ing will be JOSH CLARK, offering his ‘homegrown folk rock:’ stylings during the 6PM Meet-Mix-Mingle pre-movie hour   Return to Calendar
