Sound Collective Fundraiser for TORRENTS’ 2026 Fall Forum TORRENTS.FM Presented in dialogue with OFFLINE: Tracing the Source, an exhibition of new works by artist Hadiya Williams at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center. Sound Environments invites guests into a shared practice of intentional listening. This immersive experience explores the relationship between sound, image, memory, and collective wellbeing. Featuring a live ensemble fusing Jazz, Neo-Soul, and experimental textures, a curated vinyl listening session on a vintage hi-fi system, and a deep selection of classic records and rare publications. The night will feature: A vinyl  listening session curated by Jamal Gray (TORRENTS’ Founder) Custom vintage sound system curated by Emil King of Garage Kissa Live  jazz from The Elijah Easton Quartet Retro media & ephemera by  Bemo Brown (Seen’t Media) Vinyl record pop-up by Rhythmlingo Records Where OFFLINE explores the relationship between ancestral memory and contemporary technology through printmaking, ceramics, textile design, and AI-generated collages, Sound Environments extends this inquiry into the sonic realm. Pulling inspiration from the spiritual & avant garde Jazz movements of the 1970s and the Soulquarian music collective of the 90s & 2000s, while honoring the DC area’s storied history of progressive and conscious innovation through the arts. Framed as “a room for active listening,” the evening investigates what it means to cultivate a sound mind and sound body within a collective context. In a cultural landscape increasingly mediated by code and distraction, this gathering proposes listening as an embodied and communal act. TORRENTS is a DC-based Cultural Memory Studio focused on amplifying emerging voices in art, film, music & immersive technology (TORRENTS.FM is fiscally sponsored by Capital Fringe Inc., a Washington, DC, nonprofit arts organization)
