About this event
One of 17 upcoming events at Randall's Island, and 6,842 across New York City.
Join the Bronx Food Humanities on October 22 at 2 PM on our Urban Farm for a compost workshop! See below for registration information and a description of the event courtesy of the Bronx Food Humanities. Register here through Eventbrite! When we compost and care for soils together, we care for and transform ourselves and our communities. But what makes compost “radical”? Why do we do it? Who benefits? And what makes radical composting possible in the middle of a big city like New York City? At this workshop, we will sift finished compost together while imagining a radical composting landscape in NYC through the lens of desire. As we prepare compost to nourish the farm soil for the turning of the seasons, we will share knowledge, hopes, and practices for creating our past, present, and future in community with ancestral contexts and long-time compost and soil stewards. We will also nourish ourselves with a lovely meal prepared by La Morada. This event is organized by the Bronx Food Humanities thanks to the support of the Mellon Foundation. Free and open to the public.
