Beyond First Vibe: Not Just Romance: Control and Coercion in Friendships and Families

Domestic violence prevention often focuses on romantic relationships—but control, manipulation, and coercion show up in friendships, family dynamics, and mentorships, too. This workshop broadens the conversation to include those relationships we don’t always think to examine. Students will explore what coercion looks like outside of dating, why these relationships are often harder to identify and disconnect from, and ways to protect themselves in these spaces.
