A Month of Seasonal History, October “Hauntings,” Spellbinding Activities and Halloween Fun All October long, Thursday–Saturday, celebrate the season with spooktacular exhibits, tours, and family-friendly activities. DAILY “BOO!” EXPERIENCES Step inside the Museum Center and take a nostalgic look at the history of Halloween in America. Explore late 19th- and early 20th-century traditions that helped shape the holiday we know today, including the transformation from a night of mayhem into a more family-friendly celebration. Discover the stories behind familiar Halloween symbols, including the popularization of the black cat. And there’s more to explore throughout the museum: + Learn how herbal traditions influenced the development of modern medicine. + Discover some of New Hampshire’s more frightening tourism destinations. + Delve into the literary and cinematic history of Halloween horror. + Upstairs, Doc and Marion Remick’s apartment offers a nostalgic look at Halloween decoration styles and entertainment popular in the mid-20th century. Outside: + Make your way along the Pumpkin Path on the Binsack Trail. FREE All ages Preregistration is not necessary. ADDITIONAL OCTOBER EXPERIENCES Haunted History Tours All month long, Haunted History with the Drs. Remick: Eerie Medicine & Spooky Tales takes place Thursday–Saturday. These mid-afternoon and evening guided tours offer a spine-tingling journey through medical history—fringe and otherwise, Bwahahahaha…! Preregistration and prepayment are required. Designed for ages 16+. Spellbinding Saturdays Join us for special Saturday events featuring local presenters and seasonal fun (preregistration and prepayment are required, where applicable): + October 17 Meet local author Ann M. Willett and discover her new children’s book, The Witch Cat. + October 24 Local tarot card reader Marina Biggio will be on-site for an afternoon of personal, revealing sessions. Halloween comes to Tamworth Village On Saturday, October 31, Tamworth Village becomes a pedestrians-only zone as it welcomes trick-or-treaters to stroll a glowing jack-o-lantern path between a large gathering of local organizations and businesses scattered throughout the village. We’ll be joining in on the Halloween in the Village fun, organized by the Tamworth Outing Club (established in 1935), and invite you to do the same!
