A Revolutionary Christmas

Christmas cheer comes alive at the Nixon Library with a spectacular tree lighting, live music, Santa Claus, and an evening of holiday fun for the whole family. The story of Christmas in America is intertwined with the story of the nation itself. In the winter of 1776, George Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River on Christmas night in a daring effort that would become one of the most iconic moments of the American Revolution. From the earliest days of the Republic through the Victorian era and into the modern American Christmas, generations have celebrated the season through music, traditions, community and a distinctly American spirit.
