Good News ATX: Sharing the Stories That Lift Austin Up

@ In a media landscape often dominated by conflict, crisis, and bad news, veteran Austin journalists Judy Maggio and Leslie Rhode are shining a light on the people and organizations making Central Texas a better place. Together, Judy and Leslie co-founded Good News ATX, a storytelling platform dedicated to uplifting, positive stories about the Austin community. Their work highlights local nonprofits, volunteers, businesses, neighbors, and community leaders whose efforts inspire connection, generosity, and hope. Both women bring decades of broadcast journalism experience to the project. Judy and Leslie will share the story behind Good News ATX, introduce some of the remarkable people they have encountered, and discuss why positive storytelling matters. Their work shows that good news is not about ignoring difficult realities. It is about telling a fuller story and recognizing the people working every day to solve problems, support their neighbors, and strengthen our community. Guests are welcome to attend.
