Lulu West

Lulu West shares new material made as part of her Roulette Commission. *FREE FOR ALL ROULETTE MEMBERS * Lulu West is a composer, improviser, and educator, originally raised in the mountains of Colorado and currently based in NYC. Her music, guided by rural trans histories and the intergenerational messiness of feminine bodies, invites her listeners to sit in the conflict of guttural outbursts and moments of stillness. In her solo work, Lulu is interested in the weaving of prepared acoustic guitars, experimental field recordings, and interview practices. Lulu’s main collaborative projects consist of: Bear Bear (experimental folk duo), Polsky West (guitar duo) and Duchess (noise-rock trio). Lulu is a teaching artist for the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers Program and Philharmonic Schools Program, and for the Community-Word Project. This performance by Lulu West was commissioned by Roulette, made possible with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation. This performance is presented through Roulette’s GENERATE program, providing over 20 artists each year with in-depth creative and technical support. photo 1 by Hazel Fiener photo 2 by Anh Nguyen Lulu West shares new material made as part of her Roulette Commission. *FREE FOR ALL ROULETTE MEMBERS * Lulu West is a composer, improviser, and educator, originally raised in the mountains of Colorado and currently based in NYC.
