Yaz Lancaster

Yaz Lancaster presents new work as part of their Roulette Commission. *FREE FOR ALL ROULETTE MEMBERS * The expansive practice of Yaz Lancaster encompasses experimental electroacoustic performances, notated compositions, open format DJ-ing, writing, collaborative work, and organizing DIY shows across NYC’s underground and nightlife scenes. Yaz performs sets with violin, voice, microphone feedback, CDJs, and electronics. They are ½ of death ambient/hardcore duo “medium.” (with gg200bpm), and a member of PTP artist collective. They’ve had the opportunity to perform at The Shed, National Sawdust, Public Records, The Music Gallery, KINDL, Gaudeamus Festival, Nowadays, Paragon, The Lot Radio, and NTS; and recent collaborators include CENTENNIAL GARDENS, claire rousay, Miss Grit, OHYUNG, Tony Guarino, and Sean Pecknold. Yaz is also a poet and writer (ICIYL, The Wire, etc.), founder of performance series HEAVY HEARTS, and the director of event production at The Poetry Project. This performance by Yaz Lancaster was commissioned by Roulette, made possible with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation.
