About this event
One of 23 upcoming events at Rowayton Arts Center.
This class is geared toward students who are familiar with oil painting, and want to strengthen their skills. Specifically tailored towards the seasoned painter, we will cover different techniques in oil painting, such as ébauche, grisaille, bistre, verdaccio, and alla prima. We will also cover specific color palettes, composition theory, concept, and an exploration of materials and techniques that will ensure the longevity of your artwork. Each student will work on their individual painting throughout the semester. Three demonstrations will be announced at the onset of the second class. Students have the option of following along in real time with the instructor to better understand a new concept or technique. Note that this class is the same class that is offered from 9am – 11:30am on Fridays. Students are welcome to register for both classes if interested in having 5.5 hrs of painting with Felicia. For everyone’s health and safety, Felicia recommends students use water mixable oil paints. However, if a student is insistent on using the traditional paints, it’s totally fine. Felicia Feldman has Masters in Fine Arts (Painting) from the New York Academy of Art, a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (Painting) from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and has completed a number of Independent studies with renowned artists Odd Nerdrum, Steven Assael, Will Cotton, Rita Natarova, Noah Buchanan, Vincent Desiderio and Alan Feltus. She has extensive teaching experience in the Fine Arts in painting, drawing and figuration. Specializing in observational and realistic techniques: foundational studies, graphite, charcoal, oil, watercolor and acrylic. Felicia comes to RAC as a new resident to Connecticut having just moved here from Long Island where she worked for years teaching at the Long Island Academy of Fine Art.
